Open Michigan Poker Rooms

There are six poker rooms open in Michigan. Three are in Detroit casinos. Two are at tribal casinos in the Lower Peninsula. There is one open poker room in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Four Michigan tribal casinos closed poker rooms due to the pandemic in March 2020 and never reopened.

All Michigan poker rooms offer cash games. Most also have tournaments. The main game is no limit Texas hold’em.

MGM Grand Detroit poker room

The MGM Grand poker room has 14 tables. The main games are 1/2, and 2/5 no limit Texas hold’em. The buy-in is $50 to $300 at 1/2 and $200 to $1,000 at 2/5. Pot limit Omaha games may run during busier hours. Mixed games may run from time to time.

MGM Grand does not run poker tournaments at this time. Before the pandemic, there were no limit Texas hold’em tournaments on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The buy-in was $110 on Sundays and Wednesdays and $210 on Saturdays.  

Firekeepers poker room

The 26-table poker room at Firekeepers is open 7 days a week. It is open 24 hours on weekends and closes from 4am until 9am Monday through Friday.

There are fourteen tournaments per week. These run daily at 12:15pm and 6:15pm. Monday through Thursday, it is a $50 no limit Texas hold’em tournament. This is also the Friday 12:15pm tournament. Larger tournaments are offered on weekends. One is a pineapple event. The Firekeepers poker room is a stop on the Mid-States Poker Tour.

MotorCity poker room

The MotorCity poker room hosts 17 tables. Its main games are 1/2 , 2/5, and 5/10 no limit Texas hold’em. The buy-in is $50 to $200 at 1/2, $200 to $800 at 2/5, and $500 to $2,000 at 5/10. Pot limit Omaha games run sporadically. There is a mixed game most nights. 

There are three poker tournaments each week at the MotorCity poker room. On Thursdays, there is a $120 no limit Texas hold’em tournament at 7:15pm. There is a $140 no limit Texas hold’em tournament at 6:15pm on Sundays. There is a $170 no limit hold’em tournament with $50 bounties at 7:15pm on Mondays. 

Hollywood Casino at Greektown poker room

There are 10 tables at the Greektown poker room. The main game is 1/3 no limit Texas hold’em. The buy-in range is $100 to $300. If 2/5 no limit hold’em runs, the buy-in is $200 to $1,000. There may also be a 1/2 no limit hold’em game. 

There are two weekly no limit hold’em poker tournaments at Hollywood Casino Greektown. These run on Friday and Saturday nights. The buy-in is $150.  

Island poker room

There are six tables at the Island poker room. It is open 6pm to 2am Wednesday and Thursday, 11am to 3am Friday, and 5pm to 3am on Saturday and 4pm to 2am on Sunday. It is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Players must be at least 18 years old. 

The main game is 1/3 no limit Texas hold’em. The buy-in is $100 to $300. There are three weekly poker tournaments dealt at the Island poker room. All are no limit hold’em. The buy-ins range from $50 to $100. 

Odawa poker room

The Odawa poker room is in Petoskey. It has six tables. It is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 4pm to midnight. The main game is 1/3 no limit Texas hold’em. The buy-in is $50 to $300. The Odawa poker room does not deal tournaments.

Michigan online poker rooms

There are three online poker rooms in Michigan. These are BetMGM, PokerStars and WSOP. Michigan Advantage includes reviews for each of these rooms. All deal Texas hold’em and Omaha, including cash games and tournaments.

Closed Michigan poker rooms

Four Michigan poker rooms were open before the pandemic closure but never returned. Those are located at Bay Mills, Gun Lake, Kewadin Casino Sault Ste. Marie and Soaring Eagle.
