Licensed Michigan Online Poker Sites

Online poker launched in Michigan on January 29, 2021. PokerStars was the first legal and licensed poker site in the state.

Michigan poker sites require players to be at least 21 years old. Players must be located within state lines to sit at real money online poker tables. Geolocation software is used to confirm players’ locations.

Online casinos and sportsbooks are also licensed through Michigan casinos. Read more in our Michigan online casino and sportsbook sections.

Michigan entered into the Multi-State Internet Poker Agreement in 2022. This allows Michigan online poker rooms to network players between Delaware, Michigan, Nevada and New Jersey. No Michigan site has expanded from intrastate player pools as of August 2022.

Michigan poker sites

There are three Michigan online poker networks. PokerStars is the most popular in terms of traffic, according to GameIntel. WSOP.com is the second largest Michigan poker site. BetMGM is the smallest.

BetMGM

BetMGM Poker operates a site through its MGM Grand Detroit casino, which also has a Michigan poker room. New players receive a 100% up to $1,000 first deposit bonus and up to $75 in free tournament tickets.

BetMGM Online Poker100% First Deposit Match, Up to $1,000 + Up to $75 in Tournament EntriesRead ReviewClaim Now21+ and present in MI. Bonus must be cleared 120 days after deposit. Players must deposit within 7 days of account creation. Tournament ticket values vary based on deposit amount. Tickets expire after 14 days. Restrictions apply.

MGM Rewards is its VIP club. There are up to 70 daily multi table tournaments, including a daily $109 one with a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool. BetMGM is on the Partypoker network, though the Partypoker brand is not used in Michigan like it is in other states.

PokerStars

PokerStars operates in Michigan through a partnership with Odawa casinos. It is the largest online poker operator in the world. It is licensed in more jurisdictions than any other poker site.

New PokerStars Michigan players receive either $50 in Spin & Go tickets or a 100% up to $600 first deposit bonus. PokerStars offers the largest variety of real money poker games in Michigan. Beyond the typical hold’em and Omaha options, there is seven card stud, seven card stud hi/lo, razz and mixed games like badugi and triple draw.

WSOP

WSOP is partnered with Turtle Creek Casino to offer online poker in Michigan. It is operated by Caesars. New WSOP Michigan players receive a 100% up to $600 first deposit bonus. However, we feel strongly that this is by far the worst poker site in Michigan. We recommend either BetMGM or PokerStars over it. WSOP.com has suffered from terrible support, slow withdrawals and poor management decisions since it entered the regulated US market in 2013.

How to deposit at Michigan poker sites

Michigan online poker sites offer several convenient deposit options. Since the businesses are licensed and legal, they are able to accept credit and debit cards like Visa, Mastercard and Discover, as well as electronic checks and bank wires.

PayPal is another common Michigan online poker deposit option. If you prefer to pay with cash, you can often send a PayNearMe to the poker site. This is done like a cash bill pay service at retailers like Walgreens and 7-Eleven. The Play+ prepaid debit card may be loaded with a credit card, debit card or bank transfer.

How to withdraw from Michigan poker sites

Michigan poker sites have several reliable and convenient withdrawal options. Electronic checks are the easiest and most common. Larger withdrawals may require a bank wire. The Play+ prepaid debit card can be used as a withdrawal option. It comes with an ATM card, or if you prefer, Play+ withdrawals may be processed to a bank account. PayPal offers similar withdrawal options. Some Michigan poker sites will send a check by mail.

Are Michigan poker sites safe?

Michigan poker sites are regulated by the same gaming commission as poker rooms in Detroit and other parts of Michigan. The software is tested to ensure that the random number generator operates correctly.

Poker sites in Michigan have security departments that review hands to look for collusion and other forms of cheating. Michigan poker sites are required to keep deposits in a separate account to guarantee the ability to pay players upon request.

For all these reasons, we feel that Michigan online poker is safe. This is especially true when comparing them to offshore poker sites that have no licensing and do not have access to the US banking system. That is why all the offshore sites that accept US players payout in cryptocurrency like Bitcoin.
